SHE is a scheme for women empowerment in engineering education, the State level inauguration will be done by the hands of Kerala’s Higher Education Minsiter R Bindu

Kerala: Women empowerment has now become a concern and every State in India is trying its way to empower the women of their respective State. Every State Government is implementing programs to encourage women to enter into different sectors.

In a similar motive, the Kerala government’s higher education department has implemented a scheme for her empowerment in engineering education (SHE), which aims to develop women’s technical talent, and will be implemented at all engineering and polytechnic institutes in Kerala. Kerala’s Higher Education Minister R Bindu will be inaugurating the program at Government Engineering College (GEC), Kannur on Friday.

Kerala’s Higher Education Minister Bindu said that the reason for implementing the project is to encourage women to be part of the engineering sector. Despite the fact that more women than the average are enrolled in technical and skill-based courses, this is not reflected in engineering-related employment.

Kerala’s Higher Education Minister said, “There is a need to increase the number of women in those jobs which need engineering skills. SHE aims to make it happen. The vision is to create professionally successful and personally fulfilled women engineers,” said the minister.

The pilot project which was implemented in GEC, Kannur in 2020 will not be introduced in all institutions under the directorate of technical education, Bindu said.

Engineering is a field that gives vast career opportunities after pursuing any degree course like Computer Science and Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

After completion of the engineering course, there are jobs available. However, in recent times computer engineering is seen as the best career option by many as the course provides placement and after learning different computer languages one can easily secure a job. During the Covid period, it was observed that the jobs in the IT sector were secured and people were working from home.
